Having completed the stonemasonry around the windows and doors, the exterior walls of the house are now ready to be repointed. This is important to get done before the bad weather comes and before we begin the exterior paving. When it rains, moisture seeps through the old mortar debilitating the walls. We will use a special mortar of local sand, white cement and lime, allowing the stone to breathe. The front of the house will be rendered with a new lime mortar, whilst the two side walls and the back west wall will be stone. The big granite stones around the windows, sides and the archway on the front will be visible.
